Intervention – Scene 3

Apr 25th, 2008 | By PlotDog | Category: Intervention, Serialized Screenplay
               EXT. DICK’S HOUSE – DAY

Dick carries arm loads of shopping bags from Neiman Marcus
and Nordstrom’s. Jane is dressed to kill and Dick looks more
like a schlump than he did in the bar. He is sporting a
hundred dollar hair cut, five hundred glasses and the dazed
expression of a man who has endured a vicious shopping.

Jane leads him to the door and takes keys out of her purse,
holds them out and stands by the door.

Dick jumbles the bags to the step as carefully as he can and
takes her keys, selecting a new key and inserts it in the
               door.

                                   JANE

                         Such a gentleman.

The door swings in and Jane steps through, carrying nothing.
She drops her purse on a new side table and spots Dick’s
mail. She absently shuffles through it while he gathers the
bag and pack ponies them in.

                                   DICK
I don’t really have the closet
space for all the things we bought
                         today.

                                   JANE
You will, Honey. We just have to
toss out things you don’t need.

INT. DICK’S BEDROOM UPSTAIRS – MOMENTS LATER

The bags are on his bed. Jane tosses things out of his
               closet in a pile.

                                   JANE
I love your haircut, Baby. Now
lets organize the rest of your
                         look.

                                   DICK
I’ve never owned clothes like this.

                                   JANE
Baby, you need to learn to dress
for where you want to be in life.
                         Not where you are.

Dick starts pulling tags off with his teeth. Jane’s face
               falls just a touch.

                                   DICK
Carl’s going to have a field day on
                         these clothes.

                                   JANE
Scissors, Babe, you don’t want to
                         tear the seams.

Dick heads into the bathroom. His voice trails out after
               him.

                                   DICK
My business is growing faster than
I can manage now. My customers
                         expect my look.

               Jane rifles his dresser drawers.

                                   JANE
You have to learn to trust my
                         judgment, Baby. Your current
clients aren’t going to build our
life. Your business is good but
with a little help, you could do as
well in business as you are doing
finding a beautiful woman to marry.

Dick comes back in the room with scissors. He starts
snipping at tags. Jane moves behind him and tickles his ear.

                                   JANE (CONT’D)
                         You like, Baby?

               Dick almost drops the scissors.

                                   JANE (CONT’D)
My mother helped my father build
his company and look how well they
                         are doing.

                                   DICK
Who needs a fifteen thousand square
                         foot house?

Jane reaches around and unbuttons his button.

                                   JANE
Let’s get you out of these.
                         Success has it’s benefits.

               Dick turns into her arms.

                                   DICK
I love you, but what if I can’t be
                         what you want.

                                   JANE
                         I wouldn’t have picked you if I
didn’t know you could make it.
Father was a mess when Mother found
him and you’re much more handsome
and able than him. You really need
                         to trust my judgment.

Jane runs her fingers through Dick’s hair and takes off her
               top. Dick melts.

                                   DICK
I so want to marry you.

Jane pushes him back on the bed in the pile of clothes.

                                   JANE

                         That makes me so happy.

               They kiss.
