Intervention – Scene 6

May 25th, 2008 | By PlotDog | Category: Intervention, Serialized Screenplay

INT. LIMO JUST OUTSIDE THE RECEPTION — LATER

Guests wave to the Limo and the sun still shines like a
bright promise of the future.  Jane rolls up the windows
after waving goodbye.  The interior darkens.  Dick looks
lovingly at Jane.  The driver lusts in the mirror at Jane.

                                   DICK
                         I have your wedding present.

                                   JANE
And I have yours too, My Love.

Jane hands a Tiffany’s box to Dick.  He holds it reverently
for a moment and carefully unwraps it.  He pops the top up on
the case.  It’s a diamond watch.

                                   DICK
Oh my god, Jane it’s so beautiful
                         …and expensive.

                                   JANE
                         Read the inscription.

Dick flips the watch over and reads out loud.

                                   DICK
(reads)  For my precious Pet.  I
love it, and you’re my pet, too.

Dick reaches into his coat and pulls out a smaller box.

                                   DICK (CONT’D)
It isn’t really as expensive, I
                         didn’t know, really…

                                   JANE
Of course, you didn’t, I tend to
                         surprise you, don’t I, Pet?

                                   DICK
Well, it’s the thought and all.

Jane unwraps the box and pops out a gold and platinum
               lighter.

                                   JANE
Dick, it is lovely, just fine.

                                   DICK
                         It’s inscribed.

               Jane reads the inscription.

                                   JANE
(reads) To the spark of my life.

Jane smiles at Dick and he is relieved.  He reaches into the
bar for a bottle of JD and the same type of glass from the
first night at the bar.  He opens an ice bucket, fills the
               glass with a double shot.

                                   DICK
Jack and the same glass from our
                         bar.

                                   JANE
                         Very thoughtful, Pet.

Dick reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out a pack of
cigarettes.  With a flourish, he takes out a cigarette and
hands it to her.  Jane puts it between her lips.  Dick takes
the lighter and spins the wheel once, nothing, twice,
               nothing.

                                   DICK
It needs to be broken in.

He spins the wheel a third time and it works.  He lights her
cigarette.  Jane takes a sensuous drag and savors the moment.

                                   JANE
Dick, Pet; at work, they want us to
quit smoking.  It is part of the
new program I plan to run.

Dick slowly takes out a cigarette and lights it.

                                   DICK
So, you can’t smoke at work.  That
will be hard, but they can’t keep
you from smoking at home, right?

                                   JANE
I need to show my boss I am a real
                         team player.

                                   DICK
Can you quit after the honeymoon?

                                   JANE
                         We will quit now.

Jane rolls down the window, and tosses out her and then
               Dick’s cigarette without a word.

Jane wiggles out of her gown.  The driver watches Dick reach
for Jane.  She continues to strip down to her panties and
bra.  She unhooks the bra and her breasts fall into the view
of the driver.  Jane notices the driver’s eyes and smiles.

                                   DICK
Honey, I love you very much, but
                         quitting on the honeymoon?

                                   JANE
                         Let’s focus on fun things.

                                   DICK
I do love you so much.

Jane takes off her panties and as Dick approaches her
tentatively, she reaches down to unzip him.

                                   JANE
                         Hurry, it’s a short ride.

She pulls him on her; she is in an uncomfortable position
even though Dick can’t tell from his position.

                                   JANE (CONT’D)
Dick, do you have a condom?  We
                         can’t get pregnant.

Dick fumbles in his pockets; he doesn’t find one.

                                   DICK
                         It’s in the suitcase.

               Jane calculates in her head.

                                   JANE
                         Just this once, Honey.

Dick crawls excitedly up on her.  She makes all the right
noises but her face is blank.  Dick finishes.

                                   DICK
                         Honey, did you, um, finish?

                                   JANE
No, Sweetie, we have a flight.

With her eyes on the driver, Jane takes the handkerchief from
Dick’s pocket, tidies up and drops it on the floor.

They straighten up on the seat.  Dick grabs another
cigarette.  Jane rolls down the window and stares at him.  He
tosses the unlit cigarette out the window.  Jane tosses the
               pack out the window, too.

The sun is rapidly falling.  A misting rain has come out of
nowhere.  Dick’s stares out the side window.
