Jul 2nd, 2008 | By PlotDog | Category: Intervention, Serialized Screenplay
INT. INSIDE SENATORS HOUSE — LATER
Dick searches for Jane, spots her with the Senator in a dark
room. They are close and whispering. Dick approaches.
JANE
Dickie, where have you been? Alan
and I were just discussing turning
the center into a federal program.
We talked about your business too.
SENATOR STEWART
Your wife is a very committed
woman.
DICK
Thanks. We appreciate your
interest, but I think we need to go
home soon.
Jane glares and Dick withers.
JANE
What is that smell? Were you
smoking?
Alex pops up with another drink for Jane and the Senator.
Jane forgets Dick entirely.
SERVING GIRL
(whispers to Dick)
You owe me.
Dick is momentarily lost in her eyes. Transported away.
SERVING GIRL (CONT’D)
Does anyone else need anything?
She walks away with a covert glance for Dick.
INT. AT PARTY — LATER
Jane is drunk and too close to the Senator. He maneuvers
her toward the darkest corner of the house. Dick can’t stand
it anymore. He moves toward her.
DICK
Jane! I think we need to go.
JANE
I’m busy.
SENATOR STEWART
I’ll take care of her, don’t worry.
DICK
My WIFE appears to have had a bit
too much to drink.
SENATOR STEWART
Not a problem.
DICK
Jane?
Dick tries to direct Jane out the door. She resists. Most
the guests are tipsy, but Jane is the worst. The Senator
notices people noticing and herds Dick and Jane to the door.

I’m hooked. I’ve read the intro up to this one so far. I didn’t want to stop, but sleep is calling for me. I haven’t slept from working the night shift, yet, so I have to come back some other time to read more of your story. I’m captivated and riveted. Really good stuff.

Tashabud,
Thanks so much for the comment. In my mind, there isn’t any better tribute to a writer than when a reader says that the writer is stealing sleep. You can’t know how good a feeling that is. I hope that my writing keeps you that entertained and happy. Keep reading, more fun to come, I promise. Getting comments is my drug of choice and I really appreciate it. Keep us up to date about your progress and I will keep writing so you can keep losing sleep.
Thanks
Plot Dog.
You can’t know how much your return comment means to me too. I’m glad that you appreciated it. To be appreciated is also kind of a drug to a commenter. So anyway, I’m back and have read the 11th and am going to the next ones.
