Aug 6th, 2008 | By PlotDog | Category: Intervention, Serialized Screenplay

INT. POLICE STATION INTERROGATION ROOM — NEXT MORNING

Dick and Jane sit.  The morning Sun shows Jane more widely
awake and Dick looking resolute, beaten and pissed.

                                   JANE (WHISPERS)
Did you ask for a lawyer?

               Dick nods.

                                   JANE (CONT’D)
                         What else did you say?

                                   DICK
                         You weren’t driving.

                                   JANE
                         Why?

                                   DICK
                         Your job, substance abuse and
                         mental health, drunk driving.

                                   JANE
                         Which lawyer did you call?

                                   DICK
                         Carl.

                                   JANE
                         Oh great, a business guy.

The door opens and Carl steps in.  He looks like he knows
               what he is doing.

                                   CARL
Dick, how are you holding up?

                                   DICK
                         Hanging in there.

                                   CARL
                             (as a second thought)
                         Jane?

Jane stares at Carl like he is an idiot.  A cop comes in.

                                   COP
The Captain says separate rooms, so
one of you has to move.

                                   CARL
                         I represent them both.

                                   JANE
                         Oh, goody.

                                   CARL
                         Shut up.

                                   DICK
Sounds like good advice to me,
                         Jane.

                                   JANE
                         Piss off, Dick.

                                   DICK
                         Don’t start.

                                   CARL (TO DICK)
You shut up too, Dick; this isn’t
helping my day or your company.

The door swings open.  A million dollar lawyer steps in.

                                   COP
                         Who’s moving?

                                   CARL
                         Nobody.  Now get out.

                                   GRIFFIN DECKER/NEW LAWYER
She’s moving.  I now represent her.

               Everyone looks confused.

                                   CARL
Who the hell are you?  No, wait, I
don’t give a shit.  Take her.

                                   DICK
                         I don’t think so.

                                   GRIFFIN DECKER
Jane, my name is Griffin Decker.  A
                         friend sent me to help.

                                   JANE
                         And Dick?

                                   GRIFFIN DECKER
                         He isn’t my problem.

                                   DICK
                         Don’t be stupid, we’re a couple.

                                   GRIFFIN DECKER
Your rights are separate, you are
separate.  It’s just a legal thing.

Decker looks to Carl, who nods.

                                   CARL
                         You’re better off alone, Dick.

                                   JANE
                         I’m with him, Dick.

Jane leans in and kisses Dick on the cheek.

                                   JANE (WHISPERS) (CONT’D)
You were driving; we can work the
rest out later.  I know Alan will
take care of it.  You are my hero.

                                   COP
                         Ok, you two, out.

Jane leaves with Decker without a look back.

  1. It’s about time that Dick stood up to Jane, even for a very short time. See? Your story is so good that I’m makig all these commentaries about my feelings in each episode.

tashabuds last blog post..A Call From Kosovo

  2. Tasha, I so love it when it happens the way readers want it to. The boy is going to grow and sadly, I think Jane is going to notice and slap him around even harder. The life of a protag isn’t easy is it? :)
