Intervention – Scene 33

Feb 11th, 2009 | By PlotDog | Category: Intervention, Serialized Screenplay

INT. BABY BARE STRIP JOINT -- AFTERNOON

Carl leers about the room, his beer is half full and Dick's
still has a full head of foam.

Dick nervously spins the glass on the table and refuses the
normal course of business in the Bar. The girls buzz
around the tables. Dick is showing a picture of Sara to
Carl like it is the first time.

                                   DICK
I shouldn't be here. Do you want
to see Sara in a place like this?

               The Girls flock around.

                                   DANCER 1
Show the one with angel wings
                         again.

Dick suddenly looks guilty for insulting the strippers.

                                   DICK
                         I don't mean that dancing isn't
                         good enough, well, I just
                         don't...

                                   DANCER 2
It's ok, my dad don't want me
                         here with people like Carl
                         neither.

Carl holds up a ten and a young dancer moves in. She turns
it on for Carl, until he has gotten his money's worth.

DANCER 1 sits on Dick's lap and gently strokes the hair on
the back of his neck in a comforting way. Dick reaches
into his pocket for some bills and she looks at him like he
should know better. He shrugs and is sheepish.

                                   DICK
                         Can't a guy buy a girl a coke?

                                   DANCER 1
                             (teasing voice)
Only with a burger: no lunch yet.

Dick waves to a waitress. Carl shakes his head.

                                   CARL
                         We feeding 'em all again?

                                   DICK
                         Yep. Sandwiches for the girls,
                         please. Get the company card
                         out.

                                   CARL
                         If Jane ever audits the books;
she won't think this money is for
                         food.

                                   DICK
What Jane doesn't know won't kill
                         her. I didn't build a 50 million
                         dollar computer firm for her.

                                   CARL
                         You're digging a grave here.

                                   DICK
                         You can be replaced.

                                   CARL
Eat me, I know where the
                         cigarettes are buried. Another
                         beer?

  1. Well, I’m finally all caught up with this novel. I like all the twists and turns going on. I’m looking forward to finding out what Jane’s scheming when she said that Dick is so terrible behind close doors.

  2. Tasha, I think, when you get all the way to the end of this story you will be happy and a bit surprised. I sometimes find the story taking turns of its own when I am writing and that is a big fun part for me. If you want to take guesses at what is going to happen next I would love to read them.

  3. My only guess at this time is that Jane is building up a case against her husband for the big showdown. She’s scheming an elaborate plan to make Dick look like a terrible husband and a spouse abuser while making herself as the abused wife. So that when she kills him, she’ll have that as her defense. That’s my thought on the matter. Perhaps, I’m way off.
