EXT. DICK AND JANE'S BACK YARD -- AFTERNOON

               Jane walks over to Susan and, with her eyes on the
               driveway, Jane sits for a moment.

                                   JANE
                         Sue, you are putting those back
                         pretty fast and the Abbots are
                         pretty new to recovery; are you
                         ok?

                                   SUSAN
                         It's ok, you're busy, everyone
                         is.

                                   JANE
                         I always have time for you.

                                   SUSAN
                         Everyone has new girl friends
                         now.

               Susan looks over at Carl.  Jane chooses to ignore it.

                                   SUSAN (CONT'D)
                         You wouldn't even invite us, if
                         Carl wasn't Dick's employee.

                                   JANE
                         You and I have been together
                         since I met Dick.  We girls have
                         to stick together.

                                   SUSAN
                         Did you know, Dick wanted me
                         first?  I would have treated him
                         better.

                                   JANE
                         You have had a bit too much to
                         drink.  

               Susan reclines trying to look like it doesn't really
               matter.

                                   SUSAN
                         Carl isn't home much.

                                   JANE
                         Dick isn't either.

                                   SUSAN
                         I don't want the money anymore.
                         I want what you have.

                                   JANE
                         Be more grateful for what you
                         have or you might end up alone.

                                   SUSAN
                         Hypocrite, did you know he wants
                         to be called Richard?

                                   JANE
                         You need to focus on Carl, not
                         Dick.

                                   SUSAN
                         Carl doesn't love me like Dick
                         does you.

               Jane abandons Susan to her drink and moves past Carl.

                                   JANE
                         Carl, take care of your wife.

                                   CARL
                         Help me carry her inside, if she
                         passes out we can all cuddle.

                                   JANE
                         She needs you, I don't need
                         what's in your pants so skip the
                         banter.  Get some food in her.

               Carl takes a drink and gives Jane a tipsy look of his own.

                                   CARL
                         Sweet talker.
