Carl wanders over to Dick who is at the grill.  Dick looks
               over at Jane and gets her attention.  He looks at his watch
               and pretends to hold a fork and eat.  Jane shakes her head
               no and looks at the parking lot again.

               Dick takes a burger to Susan, who openly flirts.

               Jane moves past Carl with a sneer.

                                   JANE
                         Guess Dick will take care of
                         Susan.

                                   CARL
                         Anything you need help with?

                                   JANE
                         Not now, damn it.

               Carl slugs down the rest of the scotch.

                                   CARL
                         I need another drink.

                                   JANE
                         The good stuff is in the house.

               Carl strolls off with a totter toward the house.  Jane
               moves toward another couple and is intercepted by Alex.

                                   JANE (CONT'D)
                         Anything from Dick?

                                   ALEX
                         Just playing with the kiddo and
                         the other guy's wife.

                                   JANE
                         Watch him.  A bit more alcohol
                         and he'll show his dark side.

               Jane glances at Carl entering the house and has a thought.

                                   ALEX
                         I know my jobs; both of 'em.

               Jane walks over and calls Dick away from Susan.  Alex
               remains in Jane's wake.

                                   JANE
                         Dick, I think Sara is bored.

               Alex watches, as Dick bounds off happily to his daughter.

               Jane sits with Susan, who is somewhat sober after food.

                                   JANE (CONT'D)
                         You feeling better?

                                   SUSAN
                         The food helped; I'm sorry.

                                   JANE
                         It's ok.  Stick together. Right?

                                   SUSAN
                         You have no idea how hard it is
                         to be ignored; like you don't
                         matter while he has eyes for
                         other women.

                                   JANE
                         I might know more than you think.

               Susan reaches for a nearly empty wine cooler; Jane moves
               it.

                                   JANE (CONT'D)
                         Let me talk to Carl.

               Jane makes like she is joking.

                                   JANE (CONT'D)
                         Tell you what, Dick is boring me
                         to death, so, you kill Dick and I
                         will whack Carl and we will be
                         even.

               They both laugh.  The lights are on in Jane's eyes.  Jane
               rises and strolls toward Carl who is just coming outside.
