EXT. DICK AND JANE'S BACK YARD -- AFTERNOON
JANE
Carl, that drink need to be
refreshed?
CARL
You know I like fresh.
JANE
Come in, I will get you a new
one.
Carl downs the drink and his head swims.
INT. DICK AND JANE'S KITCHEN -- MOMENTS LATER
Carl is in the kitchen looking out the window at the party.
He takes a drink, fidgets and stares hostilely at his
reflection in the chrome fixture. He just starts to head
out the door again when Jane's voice comes from the other
room.
CARL
I need to get a body bag for
myself.
JANE
Carl, you ever cheat on Susan?
Carl is speechless.
JANE (CONT'D)
Ice in your drink?
Carl re-gathers himself enough to answer.
CARL
No.
JANE
Too bad.
CARL
Huh.
JANE
I always liked ice.
CARL
Oh, no to that too.
JANE
Really, to both?
CARL
What?
Jane hands the drink to Carl. She carries one of her own.
CARL (CONT'D)
What the hell, Jane?
JANE
The eternal question, isn't it?
What if someone doesn't see?
Then we get away with it.
Jane takes a big slug of the whiskey. Carl sweats. Jane
moves to the sink. She looks over her shoulder, her face a
mix of invitation and dare.
CARL
I'm sticking with "what the hell
here", Jane.
Jane looks out the window studiously.
JANE
Step up to the plate and deliver
what you've promised for years.
Carl hesitantly moves up behind her.
CARL
What about Dick?
JANE
I can see him playing with Sara.
Susan is crying over spilt wine.
Now, are you up to it or not?
Carl shuffles his feet. Jane looks into Carl's eyes.
JANE (CONT'D)
We both drank too much. This is
the only chance you will ever
get.
Jane turns, bends over the sink and lifts her skirt over
her hips. Carl's hands hesitantly feel her hips.
CARL
Jane, stop it, you know how I am.
You have to be the one to say no.
Jane pulls her thong down and turns toward Carl.
JANE
I will tell you if anyone is
coming.
Jane pulls his shorts down and turns back to the sink.
Carl moves forward tentatively and presses himself into
Jane.
As Jane's body starts to bounce against the sink with
Carl's exertions, she sees a black limo pull into the
drive.
JANE (CONT'D)
Hurry.
